We always eat underneath our caravan awning. If the weather is rainy, that is where we make an exception. I have been blessed enough to purchase one that has lasted for years. I see certain people every season and more often than not they have made changes to their vehicle. In the case of an awning, you should not have to do that very often. I even throw small gatherings for when we arrive on campsites. Everyone loves our awning.
